Introducing the EDP School Cake Sale in ISL (Irish Sign Language) Challenge!

We are excited to invite schools to participate in a special initiative to support the Ethiopia Deaf Project VLM ( aka EDP). This project is dedicated to improving the lives of Deaf Children in Ethiopia through education, resources, and advocacy. Your involvement can make a real difference!

What’s the Challenge?

We’re asking each school to host its own cake sale event and learn some basic sign language to use during the cake sale. By organizing these cake sales, you’ll be helping to raise crucial funds for EDP while also engaging in a fun and educational activity.

Why Host a Cake Sale?

Hosting a cake sale is a fantastic way to get students involved in a meaningful cause. Not only will it be a fun event, but it will also foster a sense of community and support for a worthy cause. Plus, it’s a great opportunity for students to learn about entrepreneurship and fundraising.

Incorporating Sign Language

To make this event even more impactful, we encourage students to incorporate sign language into their cake sales. This will help raise awareness about the deaf community and give students a valuable skill. We provide you with basic sign language signs in to use during the sale below:

  • Thank You
  • Please
  • How Much
  • What / Repeat
  • Cake
  • Biscuit
  • etc

Learning and using these signs will introduce the basics of Sign language to the students.

Tell us How it Went!

After your cake sale, we’d love to hear about your experience and the amount raised. Please send us your results and any photos from the event to share your success story.

Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of the students at the ALDS who are supported by the fundraising we do here at the Ethiopia Deaf Project VLM.

We’re looking forward to seeing the creativity and enthusiasm of students across different schools as we work together to support the students at the ALDS.
